The Professional Development Committee is responsible for organizing activites, seminar/workshops for the Local, as well as the distribution of Local funds for Special Project Grants, and collecting applications for student bursaries and teacher International/National Conference Grants. These workshops include any training opportunites for school respresentatives. The committee advises the Local Executive regarding issues related to Professional Development. The VP of Professional Development sits as Chair and acts as liaison to the NSTU Professional Development Committee. This committee provides information to School Representatives regarding contractual professional development opportunites such as conference grants, professional development grants, educational leave grants, teacher or school initiated In-Service and prepares criteria and selects successful applicants for scholarship and bursaries sponsored by the Local. This committee meets, on average, 3-4 times a year.
